London, ON, January 26, 2016: Mayor Matt Brown highlighted the successes shared by Londoners, announced the creation of London Inc. and provided an update of the many city-building initiatives at the 2016 State of the City Address at the London Convention Centre.
London Inc., the Mayor cited, will be a portal created by the London Economic Development Corporation to provide programs for start-ups, scale-ups, prospects, investors, talent and growing companies.
“This new resource will bring together all of the elements essential in order to help a company move from seed to success,” he said about London Inc.
The annual State of the City Address was attended by more than 1,200 Londoners representing the provincial and federal government, small and large businesses, not-for-profit organizations, the entrepreneurial and education sectors.
Mayor Brown celebrated the continued success of London’s digital creative sector represented by companies including Big Blue Bubble and Arcane.
The Mayor also stressed the importance of City Council continuing to work together with regional, provincial and national partners to move our community forward with initiatives like Rapid Transit.
“Rapid Transit will transform London and Southwestern Ontario. It will connect our key institutions, and improve our quality of life,” he said. “This initiative will change the way we move across the city and it will change the way our city grows, transforming London into a modern and sustainable community for our children and grandchildren, and the time to act is now.”
