Newsletter: December 18, 2015

The Thames River connects London’s past, present and future and this week, we took important steps to continue our journey back to the river.

The Planning and Environment Committee passed a motion to recommend that Council endorse the winning submission by architectural firms Civitas and Stantec in the Back to the River contest. The plan will now be presented before Council in January. This bold, creative initiative aligns with London’s vision to be a leader in commerce, culture and innovation - our region’s connection to the world.

We are building a city for generations to come and it cannot be done without strong partnerships with all levels of government.  This week I had the pleasure of meeting with all four Members of Parliament who represent London and the surrounding area: MP and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Transport Kate Young (London West), MP Peter Fragiskatos (London North Centre), MP Irene Mathyssen (London Fanshawe) and MP Karen Vecchio (Elgin-Middlesex-London).  I look forward to working with all of them on important priorities for our community.

Friends, this is the last newsletter of the year and I hope you have enjoyed learning about my first year as Mayor as much as I’ve enjoyed sharing it with you.

2015 has been an incredible year and together we have made progress on so many city-building initiatives.  2016 is going to be an exciting year. Your City Council is thinking long term and we are focused on moving many initiatives forward:

I invite you to join me at the State of the City Address on January 26 and hear more about how we are moving forward, together.

As always I look forward to hearing from you. You can connect with me via email:  and/or follow me on Twitter@MayorMattBrown and on Facebook
