Newsletter October 27

Exciting news this week for London’s Zoetis, the company unveiled a $2-million expansion on Innovation Drive.

This investment will add 25,000 sq. ft. to the site, doubling the manufacturer’s space. Zoetis is a North-Carolina based company with a focus on livestock and veterinary products. In London, the plant builds automated hatchery and washing systems.

We are so thrilled Zoetis has chosen London as a home base and a place to grow. Special thanks to the London Economic Development Corporation and City of London staff. This is an example of one of the many projects being supported each and every day, as we do all we come to help businesses open and grow in London.

This week, the Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development paid a visit to Merrymount Family Support and Crisis Centre. We met to discuss the Canada Child Benefit and what that means for everyday Londoners. Thank you to MP Peter Fragiskatos, staff at Merrymount and our federal partners for making this important investment in our collective future.

Following the visit to Merrymount we met with staff at City Hall to discuss our local housing needs and our efforts to combat homelessness. In London, there are over 3,000 households waitlisted for affordable housing. We need a national strategy that addresses this gap.

As October comes to an end, we look toward November and Remembrance Day. This is a time for reflection and honouring those who fought for our freedoms.

It was an honour to have members of the Royal Canadian Legion present me with the first poppy in London. I would encourage each and every Londoner to wear a poppy as a symbol of gratitude.

The Legion is always looking for volunteers to help distribute and collect poppy boxes. To get involved click here.

Sincerely,
